Perfume tingles our senses and can change our aura and what we portrait. Scent plays an important role for our personal image, since a scent can really provoke good reactions from the world to the wearer, especially if the scent makes the wearer feel amazing. Tom Ford’s Black Orchid is the one for you, when you want to portrait yourself with a mysterious, seductive aura that will make you smell rich and intriguing. To me, this perfume exudes enticing vampire allure.
I just love a pleasant perfume because it works for you in all aspects of life, whereas an unpleasant smell never works in your favor. Smelling lovely makes you feel lovely and more confident, while the world will associate you with that scent. Of course, you do not need a fragrance or perfume to smell your best, but for those ladies that do want to put in that bit of effort, perfume can work like a magic charm. I personally have loved perfume since my early teenage years and my love has only grown. In general I seem to prefer floral, amber floral fragrances, with notes of jasmine, vanilla and musk. While I still love fragrances, such as L’Interdit by Givenchy, Libre by YSL, Armani Code, Coco Mademoiselle & Gabrielle by Chanel, I decided I was ready for something in my perfume collection with more allure. I felt like I was ready to embrace a new signature fragrance, since I felt like I had outgrown my signature L’Interdit. Since I have so many feminine, floral, girly perfumes in my collection I was looking for something that would smell intriguing, with a hint of mystery, but with class and femininity. I found this in Tom Ford Black Orchid, a true cult classic. I am fully aware that this perfume used to be extremely popular, but for me this perfume is a true masterpiece. It smells complicated, yet sophisticated and luxurious.
The feeling I got when I first sprayed on Tom Ford Black Orchid is intoxication. This perfume smells extremely addictive to me. Black Orchid is a seductive, dark and sweet perfume to me. Exactly what I was looking for, that enticing vampire allure that I had not found yet. Tom Ford Black Orchid starts on me quite heavy, as a vanilla musk explosion followed with truffle and chocolate.
After the initial shock, Black Orchid settles quickly in a sweet, yet deep bouquet of dark red flowers in a musky room. I almost smell the hint of a glass of bourbon in smoke. After a couple hours of wear this smell develops into a beautiful mix of vanilla, amber, sandalwood and musk on my skin. A little deeper I smell the spices and earthiness too, with an undercurrent of delicious cinnamon and sugar. Truly a scent for the femme fatale, who loves a vintage feel.
This scent is probably not for everyone, due to the complicated scent with all these different notes. Everyone’s skin is different so fragrances can really differ on different skin. For me, Tom Ford is a straight hit. The fragrance blends beautifully on my skin, leaving a scent that is not overpowering and really blends in with my natural scent. I love it! Rating 10/10.
